Life Design - My Journey to Higher GroundToday, here in America, it is Independance Day.   A day that we really ought to be celebrating every single day…We are free!

I must confess, I take my “freedom” for granted. Always having lived in America, and always having been “free,” I don’t know any other way of life.

What does this mean, as I continue my journey “to higher ground?”  I wish I could think of something profound…instead, I wish to quote Phil Humbert, a coach whom I greatly admire.  He wrote about freedom in his July Tips, 2004.  It is so well put, that I cannot improve upon it with my own words.  Thus, I offer you his.  “America’s Independance Day is typically celebrated with picnics and fireworks, and that is wonderful!  But, I think it is BEST celebrated as a call to ACTION in our own personal lives.  Freedom is a precious thing, and too often we take it for granted (gosh, I just said that..) and fail to use it!  Use your freedom to build the life you want!  You may have the liberty to make something magnificant of your life.  Don’t waste the precious freedom that so many died to give us.”  Amen, Brother Phil!

And now, I simply wish to thank those who did give their lives for America’s freedom.  “Thank you”  is not enough, and yet it is everything…

“Thank you,” that because your son, your daughter, your mother, father, aunt, uncle, grandparent, best friend, casual aquaintance, died-I can take my life to Higher Ground.

God Bless America
