Happy Labor Day!
Today is Labor Day. The last long week-end of the summer; the day before many children (and adults ) go back to school.
I was curious as to the history of Labor Day and found this description on the US Department of Labor website:
“Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”
“Strength, prosperity and well-being of our country.” YES!
Now, I am not negating the struggles of many Americans…Our family has been deeply affected by the “economic times.” Yet, I ask that we all look forward and pray for the strength, prosperity and well-being of our country.
May it be so.
